House Sitting Services

  • The security of your home while you are away is very important to you.  Lucky Pet at Home can help provide peace-of-mind for you by keeping an eye on your home or business properties, bringing in packages and mail, and making your home look as if someone is still living there

  • House Sitting Services can be arranged for a few hours or several months.  Lucky Pet can arrange for lawn care services, home maintenance or snow removal during the time you are away (charges for these services are the responsibility of the client and must be arranged between the client and the company/person performing those services)

  • Pets are not required for this service.  If any pets are present, such as fish, a regular pet visit will be scheduled and the Home Security Check will be performed as a part of that visit

Home Check - 15-minute

  • Home security check (except items marked as "If requested")

  • Check all rooms, doors and windows

  • Check exterior of home, garage and outside buildings

  • Bring in packages, mail and newspapers

Home Check - 30-minute

  • Home security check

  • Check all rooms, doors and windows

  • Check exterior of home, garage and outside buildings

  • Bring in packages, mail and newspapers

  • Water plants as requested (extra time charge for watering may apply)

  • Start and run vehicles as requested

  • Run water into sinks, showers/tubs and toilets

  • Put trash out to curb as needed

Package Pickup ONLY

  • Pick up packages or deliveries from outside home and place them securely inside the home

  • Notification to client that packages have been secured

  • Service can be with or without pets present (if pets present, we must have already met them or packages must be put in a room away from the pets)

House Sitting - Night or Day

  • 12-hour (approximately) overnight stay from about 8pm to 8am (or 8am to 8pm)

  • Home security check

  • Check all rooms, doors and windows

  • Check exterior of home, garage and outside buildings

  • Bring in packages, mail and newspapers

  • Water plants as requested (extra time charge for watering may apply)

  • Start and run vehicles as requested

  • Run water into sinks, showers/tubs and toilets

  • Put trash out to curb as needed

House Sitting - Around the Clock

  • Includes Overnight Visit (about 8pm to 8am) and includes up to 12 additional daytime hours

  • Service Provider comes and goes throughout day to take care of other pet visits, etc but will be based out of client's home - similar routine to what client would have

  • Home security check

  • Check all rooms, doors and windows

  • Check exterior of home, garage and outside buildings

  • Bring in packages, mail and newspapers

  • Water plants as requested (extra time charge for watering may apply)

  • Start and run vehicles as requested

  • Run water into sinks, showers/tubs and toilets

  • Put trash out to curb as needed


CLIENT HOME SECURITY CHECKLIST

1.Check front of house while walking up --


  • a.Front door properly closed and secure

  • b.Windows closed or as they were on last visit

  • c.Screens intact

  • d.Any vehicles in driveway secure

  • e.Newspapers picked up, trash cans brought in, packages placed in house

2.Entering house --
  • a. Security system working properly and disarms correctly

  • b.Everything in place or as it was on last visit

  • c.At night, or visit before night visit, lights properly on

  • d.Back door secure

3.Outside walk-around --
  • a.Check gates to make sure they are securely closed and latched/locked

  • b.Scan fence to make sure it is intact and there are no openings

  • c. Make sure there is no wind damage or yard furniture blown around

  • d.Observe grass/plants to see if they need watering or maintenance

  • e. If Requested, water outside plants

  • f. During winter, check to see of sidewalks or driveway need to have snow removed

  • g.Check out-buildings to make sure they are locked/secured

4.House walk-through --
  • a. Walk each floor, including basement

  • b.Open each interior door and check room unless client has asked to not enter a room

  • c.Check basement, laundry room, bathrooms and kitchen for water leaks

  • d. If Requested, run small amount of water in each sink/tub/shower (to make sure water seals are full) and flush each toilet making sure each is working properly

  • e.Check HVAC closet / water heater for water leaks

  • f. Make sure HVAC is working properly and temperature is properly set

  • g.Check for pests (ants, wasps, etc) or rodents (mice, raccoons, etc)

  • h.Check for any poop or pee spots -- clean if possible

  • i. Check to make sure no low battery alerts on any detectors

  • j. Check each freezer and refrigerator to make sure they are working and appear to have a proper temperature

  • k. Check stove/oven to make sure they are turned off

  • l. Check garage to make sure doors and vehicles are secure

  • m. If Requested, water inside plants

  • n. If Requested, start each vehicle and allow to run for 5 minutes (open garage doors to ventilate if cars are in the garage) -- vehicles will be monitored while they are running/unlocked

5.Upon leaving --
  • a.Windows are closed/secured or opened as requested by client

  • b.If rain is expected, make sure any exposed windows are closed

  • c.Lights/drapes/blinds are properly adjusted

  • d.Mail/newspaper/packages have been brought in and put where requested

  • e. If Requested, trash cans put out to curb

  • f.Back door/sliding door is locked and secured (security bar in place)

  • g.Garage doors are locked as needed

  • h.Alarm is properly set if client has requested it be set

  • i.Front door is properly locked/deadbolted - turn/push each lock and door to make sure

  • j. Report anything unusual or needing attention to client and to Lucky Pet management
